On May 24, the 9th Member Congress of the China Technical Association of Paper Industry and the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the Association were held in Nanning, Guangxi. During the congress, members of the 9th Council of the China Technical Association of Paper Industry were elected, and the new Executive Directors, Vice Chairmen, and Chairmen were appointed. Professor Qin Chengrong from the School of Light Industry and Food Engineering at Guangxi University was elected Vice Chairman of the 9th Council of the China Technical Association of Paper Industry.
The China Technical Association of Paper Industry is a national, academic, and non-profit organization formed voluntarily by scientific and technological workers and related units in pulping and papermaking. It serves as a bridge and link between the Party, the government, and scientific and technological workers in pulping and papermaking, and is a significant force in advancing the development of pulping and papermaking in China. Since its establishment in 1964, it has consistently conducted academic exchanges and scientific and technological investigations in the field of pulping and papermaking and related disciplines, promoting discipline development and advancing independent innovation in the paper industry and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, thus making outstanding contributions to the high-quality development of China’s paper industry.
Professor Qin Chengrong is a doctoral advisor, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee, and Dean of the School of Light Industry and Food Engineering. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the China Technical Association of Paper Industry and Chairman of the Guangxi branch of China Technical Association of Paper Industry, as well as a member of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and a member of the Steering Committee for Guidance in Light Industry Majors Teaching in Higher Educations Institutions by the Ministry of Education. He has been recognized as a distinguished professor in the National Major Talent Project, a national-level candidate in the "Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talents Project", and awarded the title of "Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Experts with remarkable Contribution". He enjoys special government allowances from the State Council and has received various honors, including the National May 1 Labor Medal in 2023, the Guangxi May 1 Labor Medal in 2020, the "Baosteel" Excellent Teacher Award, and the title of "Outstanding Communist Party Member" in Guangxi universities. In 2018, he was appointed as a member of the National Standardization Technical Committee for the Paper Industry. As a key contributor, he has received several awards, including the Second Prize for State Technological Invention Award in 2019, the Second Prize for State Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2016, the First Prize for Technological Progress Award from the Ministry of Education in 2013, the First Prize for Technological Progress Award from the China National Light Industry Council in 2013, the Second Prize for Science and Technology Progress Award of Guangxi in 2017, the First Prize for Science and Technology Progress Award of Guangxi in 2015, and the Third Prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award of Guangxi in 2013. He has led and participated in ten national and ministerial and provincial-level projects, including the National Key R&D Program, General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation and research projects of Guangxi’s innovation groups. He has published over 100 papers indexed by SCI (with 29 in JCR Q1, 2 Hot Papers, and 6 ESI Highly Cited Papers), and has granted 34 invention patents (including 8 foreign patents in the U.S. and Japan), with 10 patents successfully commercialized, generating a transfer income of 6.8 million yuan.
